Naked Weekend.

My home air conditioning decided to take a poop. And as if that alone doesn't suckz0r enough for two, my car's air conditioning isn't working at the moment either. It's glorious. It's 90 degrees out, I drove all the way home, baking and getting sunburns on my left arm and shin, and then I get home, open the door -- expecting a gust of cool air, and fwap -- I'm hit with a humid wall of cooped up hot air instead. And the cats ... the cats look like they've all died in the hallway; they're just splayed out on the cool tile. Bless their hearts.

It wasn't so bad though (although for the pets, it's much worse). If I didn't put much for clothes on, and didn't spend much time in the living room (which is easily one of the warmer places in my house), I would be able to manage.

My weekend:

2 broken air conditioners
4 fans
5 phone calls
3 hot cats
2 hot pooches
1 hot ferret
3 glasses of wine
4 evening IMs
8 cool baths
2 shaved legs
1 trip to town
2 miles on foot
2 miles on a bike
$100 in groceries
1 birthday present
2 trips out to water the plants
1 home cooked meal
1 magazine read
4 chapters of 'teach yourself Spanish' Spanish
2 loads of laundry
1 pack of craisins!
1.5 movies
25 hours of sleep

Despite how warm it was, it was, honest to god, the nicest weekend I've had in awhile. Everything I did, I did for me. It was awesome to have no place to go and no one to entertain. Sometimes I just love being a recluse.

Someone busier than you is running right now.

I have a confession to make to my spark buddy, Melissa: I did not go for a run last night. I'm terrible, I know. Here's what else I know: 1. I have never made such great progress in getting into shape as I did when I was jogging regularly. 2. My knee starts to stay in a constant state of noticeable discomfort after I've jogged for over a week. 3. I miss the liberating feeling of running. 4. I miss the empowerment of cross-training (biking, swimming, running) So I've been perusing the intarwebz for motivational media this morning. And while I hate Nike for their shoddy work ethic, jacked up prices, and apparently tiny clothes, I love them for their motivational material. I just have yet to find any media more inspiring to me than the following advertisements. And ... "I am addicted. I've collected footsteps before dawn. Seen places I never knew existed. Run to the moon and back. Been a rabbit for the neighborhood dogs. Obeyed the voice in my head. Let music carr...

I used to ... I want to ... I will.

I used to write all the time. I used to ride my bicycle. I used to do better about working out. I wonder what happened. It's too late at night to really make a change now, but I'm making the vow to change tomorrow. My life will be full of bike rides and writing in no time.
